Feliz Navidad amigos! Kaffeologie is into the spirit of giving, and we want to send out some ideas for those of you who are stumped with what to give that coffee (or any hot beverage) lover in your life. We'll be featuring a variety of gift ideas to accommodate every recipient and their giver's budget. (Have a suggestion? We'd love to hear about it in the comments.) And as always, one of the best gifts you can give your favorite coffee-lover is an upgrade to the coffee routine with the AeroPress and S Filter.
A milk frother
Any coffee (or tea or cocoa) lover who loves a touch of creaminess in their cup
Have you ever used a milk frother? They are ridiculously fun, what with watching all that milk spin round and round. Not only that, but they are also key to recreating those coffee house beverages at home. Typically, in a coffee shop the milk steamer is a part of their professional espresso machine - not something every at-home barista can access for their morning culpa. (And why would you when you have affordable and delicious coffee at your fingertips with the AeroPress and S Filter?)
We've listed some of our favorites below, in a range that's sure to include your recipient's interest level and your budget. (FYI, there are some affiliate links in this post.)
The Magic Wand
Kuissential SlickFroth 2.0
Don't underestimate the stick wand frother. They are ideal for those who want move on from the "shake it up in a jar" method of frothing or those who prefer something with a small kitchen-space footprint.
This Kuissential SlickFroth 2.0 is stands out in the crowded wand frother marketplace, making it an Amazon favorite. (It has 4.5 stars out of 1,200+ reviews!) The stainless steel wand and whisking head are a breeze to clean. With a flick of a switch, you have creamy, rich frothy milk for your cappuccino or latte. (Or hot chocolate. Tis the season!)
Again, the SlickFroth 2.0 has 4.5 stars on Amazon with 1,200+ reviews.
The Electric Wonder-Machine
Epica Automatic Electric Milk Frother and Heater Carafe
For those who like a little technology or a little more choice when it comes to their milk frothing, we recommend the Epica Automatic Electric Milk Frother and Heather Carafe. This fun little machine gives you the option of using cold milk for iced drinks, making it stand apart from those frothers that only allow you to use heated milk. It has three settings: hot froth, cold froth, and hot milk. (Fancy, no?)
The Epica's stainless steel carafe is also insulated, meaning that whether you use hot milk or cold milk, it will stay the temperature it is supposed to be. There is an electric base for the carafe, but it easily detaches to make for easy pouring. The carafe can heat one cup (8 oz.) of milk, but if you're frothing, the manufacturers recommend using only half that amount since milk doubles in size when frothed.
The Epica is rated 4.6 stars on Amazon with 440+ reviews.
The Fancy Pants
Breville BMF600XL Milk Café Milk Frother
For serious frothers, there is the Breville BMF600XL Milk Café. (You know it's hard-core because its dial says 'optimum milk temp.') The Breville uses different 'frothing disks' (cappuccino, latte, cold) to make its teeny tiny bubbles and has a range of temperature settings (which, again, includes 'optimum'). The BMF600XL uses induction heating to keep consistent temperature.
It also has a little 'shot' measurer allowing you to add syrups or powders with no mess once the frothing starts. (So watch out that those hot chocolate fanatics don't try to usurp your machine.) The BMF600XL can make between one to three cups of desired-froth-level milk at a time, and actually has little sensors that prevent it from working (and thus overflowing) if you fill it too much. Now you don't even need to cry about spilled milk!
Oh, and all the milk-touching parts are dishwasher safe, by the way.
The BMF600XL is rated 4.4 stars on Amazon with 350+ reviews.
